Science Night Expo

We are excited to bring back Poplar Tree’s Science Night Expo! It’s an exciting opportunity for each student to create a science-related project that captures his or her interest. All projects will be evaluated and each participant will receive a special ribbon of participation on the Expo night.

The Science Expo will be held on the evening of Thursday, April 4th at 7:00 p.m. All projects need to be taken home at the end of the evening event on April 4th. Please remember that parental supervision the night of the Expo is required.

Expectations for projects are listed below. Students are being asked to display their projects creatively on a three-sided project board.  These boards are available at local office supply, craft, and/or Target stores.

  • complete projects with minimal assistance from parents/guardians.
  • develop a project that connects with a scientific topic.
  • complete the project approval form and return it to their teacher(s) by March 14th.
  • have their project displayed in a creative and neat manner. (Each project must have a display, such as a chart, graph, pictures, photographs and your experiment and/or model).
  • have a tri-fold board that explains the process they went through to create their project from idea to product. These boards can be found at local office supply and teacher materials stores.
  • complete their projects at home, not during the school day.
  • have fun extending their understanding of an area of interest in science.

The Science Night Approval Form must be turned into your child’s teacher by March 14th. If your child is working with another student, both children need a signed approval form.  The approval form and additional information on the science fair will be circulated as a link in the paw print and on the "Student Resources" page of Poplar Tree's website. The complete science packet, websites for topic ideas, the experimental design format, how to display your information for the expo, and more. If your child’s project requires a computer, please make arrangements to bring in one from home. If you have any questions, please contact Phil Storch at [email protected].
